SP2: Telematics and quality management

The intention of the competence network is to develop a professional quality management system for the diagnosis and therapy of malignant lymphomas and to integrate it into patient health care. Therefore a professional, computer-based communication infrastructure will be developed in the telematics sub-project, offering fast and efficient transfer of information and allowing for the unification of current practices in diagnosis and therapy. The following aims arise from these objectives:

• The central website of the competence network (http://www.lymphome.de) provides information about clinical trials, health care, contacts etc. Articles from online editors of the entire competence network provide information about ongoing developments in research and therapy. These information services offer a communication platform for physicians, patients and their relatives as well as interested scientists and members of the health industry.
• In clinical documentation, reference facilities and laboratories a large amount of data are gathered, which are not yet consistently defined. The creation of a common data dictionary improves the comparability of the data, allowing for their uniform interpretation and documentation.
• Software tools for therapy planning and continuative treatment are developed for physicians in hospitals and private practices. Supplemental offerings for consultation and training courses permit and assure the professional usage of these tools.
